Sometimes you meet people in your life and you just know you are going to be friends for a very long time. Almost 10 years ago I met Kenneth, we were both into the casemodding scene and liked to play shooting games. We got older and we started to like cars. After owning a Honda Civic and a Del Sol, he bought a S2000 and modified it quite a bit.
This is one of those cars… you like it or you find it hideous. If you follow the Dutch Time Attack championship, this car should be familiar. Insane aerodynamics, flashy colours and always at the top of the leaderboard. But why did he modify it like this, you ask? The owner, Richard Marshall, had a very good reason!
Certain people have good taste. Taste in food, architecture, art, fashion, whatever it may be. I met this guy Ash in the UK a while back only because he has good taste in cars. I would not have met him if he wasn’t in love with ’80s classic Japanese cars. That’s a fact. With that in mind I realise I’m happy to come across so many amazing people while I’m on a trip for this website and I believe some good friendships have come out of certain moments. This makes me very happy. Continue reading
Japanese Performance Show is a new concept in the UK. Not that it’s the first Japanese show, nor is it the first performance show but it’s a new direction of car show events because it’s the very first Japanese Performance Show with an indoor venue. Stijn and myself decided to do a trip to the UK to see what this event was all about. What made us try out a new event which was held for the very first time at a location we didn’t know and pretty far from our home? Was it worth the trip? I hope you’ll read further either way but I’ll give you the answer to that question right now. It was absolutely 100% worth making the trip to the UK for the JPShow2016. Continue reading
In our previous article Allard wrote how the internet has made the world a smaller place and has brought car cultures from across the globe straight to our doorsteps.
Yet it’s funny how sometimes the people you meet over the internet happen to live much closer to you than you would have thought.
It’s funny how fast the world has become increasingly smaller with the rise of the world wide web. The last few years have been a feast for everyone and everything with an interest in the Japanese car scene, which of course is a good thing!
The famous Kanjo racers for example have been causing havoc on the famous Osaka Loop since the eighties but now anybody with an interest in these crazy guys and their crazy (mostly) Civic’s finds that the interwebs is a neverending source of inspiration! Continue reading
The Nürburgring truly is a special place. Nowhere else in the world can you turn up at 17:30h after work and go for a quick blast along a 20km. winding racetrack. It doesn’t matter if you are driving a ’90s Micra or the latest Lamborghini. As long as it has wheels and it drives, it is welcome at the ring.
As I walk by at events I see a lot of beautiful cars, but what makes me sad is that most of them are only show. Don’t get me wrong about this but I just love a project which has the looks and the performance. What is holding people back to go for the full monty? Is it the money? The time to build? Or maybe the possibility to fail? There are only a handful of people who take the time and have the dedication to build something. Meet Mario, the owner of this beautiful clean and fast Supra! If you’ve read my first blog about the Valtonen Motorsport RX7 a couple weeks ago you probably read that I hoped that that blog wasn’t my last for Wangan Warriors. Luckily for me, here I am with number two! This time I got invited to the WNGN 2K16 event held at an old military terrain near Venray. The forecast for the day was really bad but we did have some good moments to take photos. Continue reading
What better place to get a postcard from than Japan right? Our club member Paul has made the trip to the land of the rising sun and was kind enough to send us a couple photos. We’ll try and get a little travel report for you guys by the time Paul is back but for now you’ll have to do it with these pictures from the famous Star Road workshop. Continue reading
