11 am – feeling stupid, I organised the first meeting and I was going to be late.

11:15 am – Paul is calling, his engine won't rev past 2500 rpm, dirty dirty AFM.

11:20 am – Just found brake cleaner, threw it in my car, hurry now and meet Paul, clean his AFM, then cruise towards where the meeting is being held.

11:21 am – Paul is calling again, “No worries mate! It's working again... BROOOAAAAAAAAAAP!”

11:22 am – Kay is getting agitated, “Noud, hurry up already!” Yes yes, I'm sorry, I'm always late, it's in my nature I guess.

11:25 am - brrrrrrm CLOINK brrrrrrrm “stupid gearbox”.

11:35 am – Engine and oil temp are a-okay “BRRRRRRRRROAAAAAAAAP!” 2 more kilometres to the meeting, go go go!

11:40 am – Arrived at the meeting, quite some cars there already, I feel stupid, I'll go to bed earlier next time!

Wangan Warriors meeting is a fact!

I drive up the parking lot and I see quite some cars being parked in a fancy, 35 degree angle. There are a couple of people I have never seen before and they all drive cool cars! Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evo Lancer VI (lets hope they won't clash, haha!), S14a, S13, B13.

The weather is nice, the people are nice, the cars are nice... this is going to be a lovely day!

Cars are nicely parked next to each other, everyone is having a laugh, bonnets are being opened.

John is joining us in his Sil00, haha. Freshly painted

Just as I begin thinking that it was actually rather warm and that I could you a fresh drink, Paul pulls out a cooler box filled to the top with coke, orange juice and energy drinks. That was one of the nicest gestures I have ever seen! So nice of him to think about us.

We continue talking, laughing and looking at our cars. People are taking pictures from all sorts of angles, you'll see!

Then I receive a phone call, just like me, Daniel is going to be late as well. Daniel and I don't differ much when it comes to being on time, it's an ongoing race, really.

In the meanwhile a flaked red MR2 turbo drives up the parking lot, Paul invited a friend over and not long after another MR2 turbo shows up, a blue, sexy-ass machine. Most of us didn't know any of them but they were all very friendly people!

In the background we all hear a distinctive 3 litre, 6 in-line, twin turbo engine... Daniel has arrived!

We remain on the parking lot for a little longer, we're just having too much fun and Daniel is taking people for a ride.

Finally, we decide to head off towards Germany. Kay and I went out last night to set the route, haha!

From where we're standing it is only a 10 minute drive to the German Autobahn where there is NO speed limit and since we always drive according to the rules in Holland we could not let that go past. Hmm... Wangan Warriors... No speed limit... Wangan Warriors... No speed limit... We are going to have -such- a blast!

First we'll have a 20 minute cruise on the German Autobahn before we'll go off the motorway and drive towards Münchengladbach using roads through small villages and fields to get there.

Driving through the small villages

It's lovely driving, when I look in my mirror I can only see exclusive high performance cars and in them are all people who share the same passion, it gives me goosebumps.

This row of rides is a real head-turner! Everywhere we come, people stop and stare, we also seem to make people happy. I've seen several people stop walking, look at our crew and continue their journey with a big grin on their face.

Traffic jam! Due to the traffic lights our crew got separated... no worries, we'll wait... on the road, haha. It didn't take long before the other guys rejoined us and we could set sail again.

Time for a break, we had been cruising for a good hour now and we could all use some fresh air. We stopped at a petrol station on the Autobahn and decided to park in the truckers-area, we could use the cars-area but that was too small for our little crew.

Ice cream! Great idea Johan! No brain freeze, thank god. We went back to our cars and it was a great sight. The ladies were having their girl-talk, others were hanging around their cars or just standing a few metres away from the bunch, not saying anything, enjoying the view.

Time to head back to Holland again. We head to drive around 40 kilometres and I think it took us around 25 minutes to get there. The average speed must have been around 160, 170 kilometres per hour. Tops must have been 250.. 260, anyone? We had a great laugh, sprinting along each other, pwning fancy German cars. Cops didn't seem to bother either, Daniel went after a BMW and I just sort of joined Daniel when all of a sudden we drove... raced past a German motorcycle cop with 160 km/h. I checked my mirror, he didn't even care, good!

Back in Holland, some members were heading off, we'll see those guys next time again, I'm sure.

Jarl joined us in his S14 and I drove to my place with Kay so he could get his Komet Blue Civic. Everyone started to feel hungry and we went to a Chinese restaurant. Good food, nice waitresses! Then went back outside, belly's all full-up but that didn't matter any more when we saw the view. Amazing! We had parked our cars next to a small river and the sun was just setting. We all took our cameras out and started taking pictures like mad.

The sun had set and night was coming upon us. We decided to wash our cars because we planned on ending the day with a photo shoot at night. Wouter in his blue MR2 turbo came back again because he wanted to be a part of that as well. We went to 2 spots, a very industrial one and a very modern one with lots of flashy lighting.

We shot some nice pictures and that was it... the first official Wangan Warriors meeting was over.

As I was driving back to my place I let all the memories of that day go past one more time, the nice weather, the cool cruise in Germany, the fancy cars and the nice people who were with us that day and who all share the same passion and then I realised... this is Wangan Warriors... This is what we're all about!
