What´s 2019 gonna bring?!

“This year is going to be so much better then last year!”. But is it going to be so much better? And what makes it a good year?

Before looking forward to this year I want to look back to a rough year of 2018. A year I only wrote two blogs for Wangan and barely touched my camera. A year we only published a total of six blogs.

From Japan: The Spoon NSX-R

Sometimes I see an opportunity that i want to grab with both my hands, and this was definitely one of them. When i saw an post that the Spoon NSX-R was coming from Japan to Europe and that they were going to visit an event near the Dutch border, i had to take the chance to see it in real life. I contacted Anthony Smith, owner at Spoon Sport Europe, to arrange a photoshoot at Hondafest. A unique chance to see the Spoon NSX-R in real life and hear it on track!

Edo’s S2000 – Wide & fast!

The Honda S2000 is a roadster equipped with a powerful 2.0 liter VTEC engine. Some would say this is the perfect car for a road trip to the Alps. Then there are also people who want to make it in to a racecar. In that particular case we are talking about Edo. In the past years he collected a lot of parts to make his S2000 in to a track weapon. Special car, special location. My friend Georgi lead us to this awesome skatepark underneath the highway ‘A9′ near Amsterdam and it gave us some pretty cool pictures.

Mimms Honda Day 2017: Season kickoff!

The weather is getting better, projects are being finished and people are getting excited! Time to wash the cars, get some fuel and drive a lot of kilometers for a car show. Mimms Honda Day was the kick-off of the 2017 season for me. This was a special one in my opinion because I got my CRX back on the road after 2 years and I drove to the UK right away.

Kenneth’s widebody S2000 – Screaming Vtec

Sometimes you meet people in your life and you just know you are going to be friends for a very long time. Almost 10 years ago I met Kenneth, we were both into the casemodding scene and liked to play shooting games. We got older and we started to like cars. After owning a Honda Civic and a Del Sol, he bought a S2000 and modified it quite a bit.

Mimms Honda day 2016

People often ask my why I drive all the way to the UK for a car event. Aren’t there any events closer by? Is it worth the long trip? To be short: yes, it is worth the trip! The scene in the UK is much bigger compared to our scene in the Netherlands and there is a lot to see. Me and my friend Kenneth jumped in the Honda Aerodeck and went to Mimms Honda day, a trackday for Honda’s only.

Hondafest: The expected and unexpected

Our scene is pretty humble, definitely when we’re talking about the Dutch JDM scene. I’m always a bit concerned when big organisations try out something new and pine for it to succeed at first try. A few years ago I visited my first GT-Events organised event and had a better feeling about that day compared to various other events I attended that season. HondaFest was the GT-Events’ first Japanese car oriënted show they set up in 2013. When I started following the event on Facebook I knew Wangan Warriors needed to go and have a look this year. Swift simplicity

A few years back I visited a big car event with a few guys from the now defunct Grunnmeet car club. Just a few months prior to that, two brothers introduced themselves on the forum of that club and they said they would come too. And on the day of the event they showed up in an old Suzuki Swift, with a very tiny one litre engine.
