The Toyota Yaris, a sensible and cheap car. A car mostly driven by elderly people. A women’s car, with lots of storage space in the dash and mirrors in both sun visors. I myself own one for more than four years now. I fell in love with it the moment I walked in the dealership’s showroom and I bought it as my first car. Continue reading

Car Life: My 2012 recap
With 2013 approaching fast it’s time to look back at 2012. One of the goals I set for myself was to improve my photography dramatically and to achieve that I spent a lot of time behind the camera. I took thousands of pictures and in total I photographed more than 40 cars and car-related events. In this blog post I want to show you, my fellow petrolheads, what my year looked like. Car life: The sorry state of Dutch drifting?
Drifting, the art of sliding a car around a track. Smoke, screaming tyres, a very focussed driver turning the wheel at insane speed and the ocassional crash. And you know what? I’m a fan! The last few years I visited the Scandinavian Drift Series and the British Drift Championship multiple times, I’m a long time visitor of sites like Driftworks or Drifted and naturally I watch the Formula Drift and I spend countless hours on Youtube watching Japanese drift movies. Continue reading
Meeting: WW13 – The social side
I have to confess something. Actually, a few things. I visit the track dozens of times a year, and I’ve never ever done a lap of Zandvoort in my life. I shoot many drifting events and demos, and I’ve never ever hitched a ride in a drift car. I visit very few meetings each year, and I visit most of them just for the pictures. But the Wangan Warriors meetings are different. They’re mainly a social thing for me, with taking pictures just being a secondary objective. Continue reading
Events: A second look on DUMPd 2012
So, DUMPd… I don’t visit meetings with static cars that often because, as you can tell from my previous blog posts, I prefer the action on the track. But when I heard about DUMPd I knew I had to visit it. The concept of a big selection meet aimed at stanced cars with all the various scenes represented was something that appealed to me because it made sure the area wouldn’t be jam-packed with cars with lots of polyester and a 12 gigawatts audio system. Continue reading
Feature: SVA Imports TA Evo
I can always explain why I like a particular car by naming just one thing. It can be an amazing paintjob, a nice stance or some cool parts. This car attracted my attention for the first time on Automaxx Streetpower. I saw it before, driving around tracks at insane speeds, but this time it was standing on the paddock without the bonnet so I could see that gorgeous ceramic-coated exhaust manifold. Continue reading
Feature: Suzuki Baleno
When I tell people I often visit races to or track days where friends are going to race they always ask me “that’s a very expensive hobby, isn’t it?” And I always tell them that it can be as expensive as you want. The occasional track day can be done with a completely stock and very cheap car, when I visited the TT Circuit in Assen in The Netherlands to shoot the photos for this blog I even saw an old Peugeot 205 driving a few laps!
