Car Life: Heavenly hell on earth

I don’t know what started it, I can’t remember when exactly and I don’t know why this adoration keeps growing. I don’t even know if I have the right pictures to express it and I don’t know if I can find the right words to explain it to you. You’re probably thinking: What the hell is he talking about? Well I’m aiming at my intimacy with the well know Green Hell. This place works in mystirious ways and raises so many emotions and memories within me that I don’t even know where to start precicely. I guess I will kick it off with some historical facts and information about the legendary Nürburgring. Continue reading

Spotlight: The art of the S12

We of Wangan Warriors are all into everything regarding the Japanese automotive culture out here. That means we are no strangers to some of the most classic models and projects. Actually, we adore them! This beautiful Silvia S12 Grand Prix rolled of the lot in 1986. Twentysix years later it is owned by gearhead Mark van den Velden. His life is all about travelling to visit race circuits and drive them. He’s also a Nurburgring addict and thats where we did this photoshoot back in August at the annual nissan Silvia meeting in a small village near the famous Nürburgring. Continue reading

Feature: Portrait of a Warrior

Where to begin with this story? Well at the very beginning I suppose. Noud and Kay have been best friends since highschool and practically grew up together. They’ve never lost contact and about six years ago they got attracted to Japanese car culture and both bought a Nissan 200sx. After some time Kay decided to sell the Silvia and bought an EK3 Vtec-e Civic. At that moment they had the idea to start a little club together called Wangan Warriors. Back then it was nothing more than a sticker on both their windshields but that is where it all started. There are the roots of Wangan Warriors. Noud never sold his s-body but together with his Warriors he rebuilt it to the wide piece of art it is today. Continue reading

Feature: Misha’s Monster Impreza

It was last monday when Misha posted a short film of his growling Impreza, just after he passed the M.O.T. That same night, Vincent and I went on the look-out in the neighbourhood for nice locations to take some shots of his car and on wednesday we finally got the chance to meet up at McDonalds for a photoshoot. If you have to break in an engine, you might as well do it in style. Continue reading

Feature: SVA Imports TA Evo

I can always explain why I like a particular car by naming just one thing. It can be an amazing paintjob, a nice stance or some cool parts. This car attracted my attention for the first time on Automaxx Streetpower. I saw it before, driving around tracks at insane speeds, but this time it was standing on the paddock without the bonnet so I could see that gorgeous ceramic-coated exhaust manifold. Continue reading

Feature: Suzuki Baleno

When I tell people I often visit races to or track days where friends are going to race they always ask me “that’s a very expensive hobby, isn’t it?” And I always tell them that it can be as expensive as you want. The occasional track day can be done with a completely stock and very cheap car, when I visited the TT Circuit in Assen in The Netherlands to shoot the photos for this blog I even saw an old Peugeot 205 driving a few laps! Continue reading

Car Feature: Toyota Yaris Cup

When I started at my first full time job three years ago I needed a car because getting there by public transport is almost impossible. I looked around, did some test drives and ultimately I bought a car nobody associates with a young guy, a Toyota Yaris. The Yaris, also known as the Vitz in Japan or the Echo in North-American countries, has the reputation of being a car for the elderly people. Continue reading

Spotlight: Paul’s new drift dress

This is Paul’s new Nissan Silvia S14a. This car was on the market for quite a while and Paul decided to take it under his wing and start his own story with it. I believe that almost everyone who has a passion for the Japanese automotive scene, has a certain weak for drifting. I can’t remember what exactly made me fall in love with the style and flair that goes with it but I guess it’s timeless and magical. Maybe it’s just different from other excisting styles or the common state of affaires in the scene. Continue reading

Special feature: Quick delivery car

Well, not an actual delivery car, but it’s owned by the holder of an Italian restaurant. I remember my first encounter with the owner which was many years back. As always I was filling up my S13 with petrol and “someone” from the Italian restaurant across the street walked up to me and started asking me some questions. He certainly knew his stuff but at the time I didn’t know him. He told me he owned the restaurant and on top of that was the proud owner of an Evo Lancer. All of a sudden, we saw each other driving about more often, we greeted, had occasional chats when we both had time and my friends and I went over for pizza every now and then. Recently, when we were having another chit chat I asked him if he would be interested to be featured on our blog and luckily he was. Continue reading
