Living in Holland has it’s advantages when you’re into cars and motor sports. The famous Nürburgring is just a couple of hours away, Spa Francorchamps is practically around the corner, Le Mans is just a 6 hour drive and if you want you can hop on a plane and you’re in England in just 45 minutes. Seeing as we, Wangan Warriors, are car guys at heart, we opted for the only right way to visit the latter: By car! Continue reading
Silver and sexy: Joop’s 350Z
The year 2002. Even though it feels like yesterday for most of us a lot has changed in the world since then. 2002 saw the introduction of the Euro as a currency, NASA landed on Mars for the first time and iconic cars like the Skyline R34 and the mkIV Supra saw their last year of production. Fuelled by the box-office hit The Fast and The Furious, what we now refer to as ‘rice’ was the mainstream way to modifying your car and everything else was considered un-cool. Where am I going with all this you might ask? Well quite simply; 2002 was also the year that the star of today’s feature, the Nissan 350Z, hit the showrooms for the first time. Continue reading
This is Gatebil
Buckle up boys and girls, grab your helmets and brace yourselves because we’re about to show you an event the Wangan Warriors way. I’m pumped with excitement to present another event through my viewfinder and this time it’s not a regular show that we find in the Lowlands. We’re taking you to a place where people wear viking helmets, a place where people burn more rubber in one track session than the entire Middle East in one year and a place where army tanks are decor of a car event. No, we’re not in Iraq, this is Gatebil! Continue reading
Gatebil: The black and white saga
Sit tight! Because you’re about to be overwhelmed with black and white photography. You might be asking yourself why and the answer could be very simple but it’s a rather long and a more personal story. If you don’t mind I would like to approach the first part of our Gatebil coverage in a more photographical way. An in depth view on the event itself will follow soon of course. But for now step into a B/W rollercoaster! Continue reading
Mellow Yellow and the art of a clean S2K
If there is one question I get asked a lot it’s this one: “How do you find all these cars to shoot?” Well, the answer is simple: Social media! We connect with people all over the globe in a way that we couldn’t have imagined twenty years ago. For guys like me it’s kind of a necessity. We need it to promote our work or to find some coverage worthy material for our blog. And I think this gorgeous S2K is more than worthy to be featured on our humble blog! Continue reading
NSX Club EU Tour 2K14 – A weekend with Senna’s legacy
A Ferrari F40, a Lamborghini Countach, a McLaren F1, a Mazda 787B, a Ford GT40 with Gulf livery and last but certainly not least, a Honda NSX. Just a small selection of cars that graced the walls of my room as a kid. I say selection because I had much, much more car related stuff hanging on my walls. But times change and so do we. Because if I could choose any car from the posters I had hanging on my wall, it would be the NSX! And the 787B! And I wouldnt say no if someone gave me an F40 but the NSX would be on top of that list!

Hondafest: The expected and unexpected
Our scene is pretty humble, definitely when we’re talking about the Dutch JDM scene. I’m always a bit concerned when big organisations try out something new and pine for it to succeed at first try. A few years ago I visited my first GT-Events organised event and had a better feeling about that day compared to various other events I attended that season. HondaFest was the GT-Events’ first Japanese car oriënted show they set up in 2013. When I started following the event on Facebook I knew Wangan Warriors needed to go and have a look this year. Continue reading
#WNGN – We’ve only just begun!
Evolution. Mother nature’s way of improving our humble blue planet. We started out as a microbe. The microbe evolved into a fish. The fish evolved into a reptile. The reptile evolved into monkey and the monkey evolved into a human being. The same thing can be applied to the automotive scene and in this case I’ll take our own meetings as an example because it’s a perfect example of automotive evolution at its best! Continue reading
#WNGN vs. DMPD video
We’ve come to expect only the best videowork by Mathieu Van Den Oever of Curb Images and again he proves himself with the #WNGN vs DMPD videocoverage. A nice clip showing a great atmosphere and loads of automotive awesomeness. Have a look and enjoy this magnificent piece of work. Feel free to share it around if you like!
Crossing the Channel with a GTR
Every time I step into a new adventure I’m wondering what the final result will be of what I’ve captured and how close it comes to my satisfaction. Usually I have some sort of a plan because my regular work for Wangan Warriors is fairly limited to car features or event coverage. I can tell you that it gets easier every time I’m going out there shooting but I was a little insecure about the adventure I had lying in front of me. Purely how I would approach it photographically.
