Events: A second look on DUMPd 2012

So, DUMPd… I don’t visit meetings with static cars that often because, as you can tell from my previous blog posts, I prefer the action on the track. But when I heard about DUMPd I knew I had to visit it. The concept of a big selection meet aimed at stanced cars with all the various scenes represented was something that appealed to me because it made sure the area wouldn’t be jam-packed with cars with lots of polyester and a 12 gigawatts audio system. Continue reading

Events: A first impression of DUMPd 2012

There is one thing I know for a fact and that is that hundreds of people had the time of their life at DUMPd today. This was an event of biblecal proportions. The idea of the event was to bring all serious car styles together, gather all the brands and make a meeting with an unseen setup in the entire Dutch car culture. The large indoor area of the Enka factory displayed the most amazing cars of the event. Unfortunately because of the limited space not all the indoor selected cars could get inside. The weather was lovely so I don’t think anyone was bothered to park their car on the outdoor area. Continue reading

Events: DUMPd: A first impression

Every once in a while, you get an opportunity presented that can’t be turned down. A new organisation, called DUMPd was born and they had the had the briliant idea of organising an event in September. In the beginning of 2012 our club was asked to help out with the selection of this event. And how can you say no to something like this? Right, you don’t. Since we’re focussed on Japanese cars only, it would become our main priority to find the greatest JDM rides in and around the Netherlands and make sure they will be present at Dumpd. Meeting: 7Tune & Wangan Warriors at Sunset

So the first collaborated meeting between 7Tune and Wangan Warriors is a fact. A couple of months ago I phoned Allard van Grafhorst and asked him if he was interested to team up and host a meeting together. He responded by saying that he was about to call me with that same idea. Let’s say it was a good start from the very beginning. Next assignment: find a nice location. We have a database of potential locations but we immidiately pitched on the Waalkade in Tiel. Set a date and time and spread the word! We’re in the middle of the event season, there is a lot going on and the Japanese Auto Festival was only 5 weeks ago. But this didn’t keep a lot Japanese car enhousiasts from Belgium, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands from attending our meeting. Continue reading

Introducing Wangan Warriors photographer: Alex Kamsteeg

Hi, my name is Alex and I’m a 25 year old guy from The Netherlands. Since I was little I’m fascinated by science and engineering. Instead of playing soccer or joining the boy scouts I went to a little hobby club in my hometown where I built stuff like a 1:10 scale model of a boat driven by an electric motor from an alarm clock. It almost sank on its maiden voyage due to water entering the hull via the shaft tunnel which prompted me to start building a working model of one of those big floating cranes they use to salvage sunken ships. Meeting #11: Sunny Sundays

It has been a long time that we’ve seen the sun on one of our meetings. Luckily, this meeting our beloved fireball was more than present. Wangan Warriors expected around 80 visitors but that number almost dubbled itself. We’ve counted over 140 cars while there were still people arriving at the meeting location. It was nice to see so many enthousiast together and we’ve allready had many reactions about the nice atmosphere and high quality of the cars. That is thanks to all of you out there! Continue reading

Wangan Warriors: What a year

I don’t know where to start with this blog. A lot has happened in 2011. In 2010 we’ve decided to restructure our website and restyle the club logo. Since we have some graphic designers, photographers, webdesigners and a couple of inventive individuals within the Wangan Warriors family, we thought it wouldn’t be a problem to realise this big change. As a matter of fact it did take a few months until everything was discussed, designed, organised and set for the release of the new website style and forum. Continue reading
