Why do we build cars? Why do we get together for a meeting? Why do we, Wangan Warriors, organize meetings? Why do we do, what we do? For some it’s to show of their rides. For others it’s about hanging out with friends. And we organize meetings to cater the needs of both. Personally I like the latter. For one, my car isn’t exactly finished (and you can call that the understatement of the year!) but more important is the fact that I love the social side of (our) meetings and gatherings. So allow me to show you some of my favorite moments of our 2014 End of year meeting!

DMPD Finest Finest
We as human beings all have our own preference – some like it hot, others like it cold. Some like bacon, others are vegetarian. Some like it stanced, others like it functional. Me? I like my bacon hot, but when it comes to cars I really like most of the sub-cultures within the automotive community, something that reflects on the DMPD events as well as you can see here and here, so allow me to show you some of DMPD finest finest! Orange is the new black
There are days when your sitting at home, watching some stupid series about a few women in prison who think they don’t belong there, orange is the new black or something, and all of a sudden you realize that you’re bored out of your mind. I mean, who watches that crap anyway?
So what do you do? In my case I posted a shout out on my FB page if anyone had something decent to shoot and the first to reaction was a clear one from Jeroen at DBM engineering. “You have my phone number, don’t be a p*ssy and call!”
Needless to say I made the call… Continue reading
DMPD Finest: A perfect weekend
DMPD. An organization that by now is well known within the European car community for presenting some of the finest car shows one can attend. DMPD is a synonym for perfection and exclusivity, and yet also for a laid back atmosphere, hanging with your mates and enjoying that what we all love so dear; Cars.
There was a shockwave of disappointment when the announcement was made that there would be no DMDP main event this year. Fortunately for us there was still one DMPD event on the calendar; DMPD Finest! Continue reading
Happy 8-6 day: The classic VS the classic to be?
Hachiroku. Initial D. Keichi Tsuchiya. Just some numbers/words/names to some, the start of a life dedicated to drifting for others. Introduced in 1983 it was the last of the rear wheel drive corollas and proved to be pretty popular amongst car enthusiasts and not just amongst drifters as it’s been just in a European GT classes, Japanese and US Group A and N classes and even proved a popular chassis for rallying.
But alas, like I said it was the last of the RWD corollas and although Toyota still proved to be capable of building iconic sports cars like the Supra or MR2 it took some time before they would develop a new, affordable front engined, rear wheel driven sportscar.
The grass is always greener on the other side
Living in Holland has it’s advantages when you’re into cars and motor sports. The famous Nürburgring is just a couple of hours away, Spa Francorchamps is practically around the corner, Le Mans is just a 6 hour drive and if you want you can hop on a plane and you’re in England in just 45 minutes. Seeing as we, Wangan Warriors, are car guys at heart, we opted for the only right way to visit the latter: By car! Continue reading
Mellow Yellow and the art of a clean S2K
If there is one question I get asked a lot it’s this one: “How do you find all these cars to shoot?” Well, the answer is simple: Social media! We connect with people all over the globe in a way that we couldn’t have imagined twenty years ago. For guys like me it’s kind of a necessity. We need it to promote our work or to find some coverage worthy material for our blog. And I think this gorgeous S2K is more than worthy to be featured on our humble blog! Continue reading
NSX Club EU Tour 2K14 – A weekend with Senna’s legacy
A Ferrari F40, a Lamborghini Countach, a McLaren F1, a Mazda 787B, a Ford GT40 with Gulf livery and last but certainly not least, a Honda NSX. Just a small selection of cars that graced the walls of my room as a kid. I say selection because I had much, much more car related stuff hanging on my walls. But times change and so do we. Because if I could choose any car from the posters I had hanging on my wall, it would be the NSX! And the 787B! And I wouldnt say no if someone gave me an F40 but the NSX would be on top of that list!

#WNGN – We’ve only just begun!
Evolution. Mother nature’s way of improving our humble blue planet. We started out as a microbe. The microbe evolved into a fish. The fish evolved into a reptile. The reptile evolved into monkey and the monkey evolved into a human being. The same thing can be applied to the automotive scene and in this case I’ll take our own meetings as an example because it’s a perfect example of automotive evolution at its best! Continue reading
Work in progress: Preserving a Hakosuka
We work hard. We work to provide for our families, pay our mortgage or to maintain our passions. I’m no exception. I’m just your average Joe with a passion for cars and cameras and I have the great pleasure of combining those two, here, on our humble blog. It’s mostly during the late hours of the day that I’m working on my passions, either browsing the web for my next subject or working on my own subject. But sometimes life gives you lemons. And when it does it’s best to make some fine lemonade! Continue reading
