Love to be hated

I’m going to start with an apology. Why? Well, It took me two years to shoot this feature. Two. Years. It all started at DMPD 2013 because that’s where I met Alex Gut and his BNR32 for the first time. I knew straight away that I just had to do a proper shoot with his car. The wheels, the stance, the fact that Alex was a really nice guy from the get go. So Alex, I’m sorry I didn’t shoot it sooner buddy! Continue reading

Little red ringtool

As you might know, Wangan Warriors is more than just the blog and a healthy FB page. It’s also a group of friends who like to get together every now and then to have a laugh, BBQ or take weekend trips to the famous Nürburgring. These weekends are all about the above and of course to drive a few laps ourselves and/or to watch what and who is trying to conquer the Ring. It was during one of these trips when I spotted a a little red ringtool at Brunchen and seeing as I’m always on the look out for stuff to shoot and cars to feature, I thought this Civic would make a nice spotlight feature for our humble blog! DMPD 2015. It’s all about the good times!

If you’ve been following us over the years than you know we’re big fans of the DMPD concept. It all started back in 2012 at the Enka Factory but after two hugely successful events that location was no longer an option thanks to greedy property developers. There have been a few “smaller” events since 2013, like DMPD Chill & Grill and DMPD finest last year but still, the fact that there was no main event in 2014 left a gaping hole in hearts and minds all across Europe. It was a deliberate choice though because Inne and Michiel wanted to come back with a bang in 2015!
And boy… did they succeed! Continue reading

50 shades of grey

Gatebil. As I mentioned in my event coverage, about everything there is to say or write about it has been written or said. The same goes for the Toyota/Subaru/Scion GT86/BRZ/FRS. In the relatively short time this model is on the market, about anything you can think of in terms of modifications has been done. The funny thing is though that most of the heavily modified GT86’s/BRZ’s/FRS’s seems to either reside in the States or Japan with the odd exception in Europe or Australia. So when I stumbled upon this GT86 I knew I had to feature it!  Continue reading

A weekend with the Infiniti Q50 “IPL”

Aaaah, the joy of shooting cars! I normally get to spend a couple of hours at best to shoot a car, but not in this case – this baby was mine for a whole weekend! It was a no brainer when Chris Visscher from Infiniti Netherlands asked me to do a website and brochure shoot. So without further ado I proudly present to you; The Infiniti Q50 “Inspiration Line”! Insanity. Madness. Epic. Party. 2JZ. Gatebil!

What is there to say or write about Gatebil events that hasn’t already been said or written? Who hasn’t seen the likes of Aasbø, “Mad” Mike or Vaughn Gittin jr. drifting through traffic via YouTube? So what can I say or write that sounds new or fresh to you? To be honest, I don’t think I can. But I’d still like you to join me on this trip. Gatebil through the eyes of a first timer. That’s right! I got my Gatebil cherry popped at this year’s main event; Gatebil Rudskogen! Continue reading

JapFest 2K15 – Time Attackers and personal favorites

Okay. I’ll just go ahead and admit it. I’m spoiled rotten! I’ve been to so many great events, both big and small, in Europe that most events in my home country of the Netherlands just don’t seem to do it for me anymore! Unfortunately I don’t have the financial means to visit an event or race in another country every weekend and well, sometimes you just have an itch that needs scratching. So, on Saturday evening I decided that I would scratch said itch and visit JapFest at Circuit Park Zandvoort on Sunday!  Continue reading

Dutch Wangan Weaponry – A menacing BCNR33

The Wangan. The Bayshore route. The C1 loop. That one stretch of tarmac that pushes the imagination of those who’ve never been there to its limits. A piece of highway where legends are born and boundaries only exist to be broken. People often ask us why we call ourself Wangan Warriors. Well, see it as an homage to that legendary piece of road in Tokyo because let’s be honest. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, the real 湾岸 is that stretch of black gold in downtown 東京! Work in progress: Go big or go home!

Rocky Auto, Star Road, Mizuno Works. Just some names that should ring a bell when it comes to restoring classic JDM machinery. Especially Rocky Auto is known for it’s wild engine and drivetrain conversions. But it’s not “just” the Japanese that know what they are doing when it comes to crazy builds. In the first article I gave you a sneak peek about what DBM engineering has in store for this ’71 KGC-10 “Hakosuka” but now it’s time to reveal how unique this project really is! Continue reading

Cruising, BBQ’ing and a barn full of awesome

Become a photographer they said! It will be fun they said! Well to be honest, for about 99% of the time it is fun. But as always some gigs, shoots, days are better then   others. So when I got an invite from Kees “street race” Reijne to join him for a BBQ with his buddies in their barn, I knew that this would be one of those Saturdays that would be just a “little” better than your average Saturday!
