Just a few weeks before the DTM, Noud, one of the founders of Wangan Warriors, asked me if I wanted to come along to the SXCE Nürmeet. As a big fan of the DTM, but also Japanese cars this wasn’t an easy choice. The DTM is one of the highlights on my calendar, but I also knew the Nürmeet would be a great way to spend the weekend. After a week of being in a dilemma, I decided on the Nürmeet. I just knew I’d regret not coming along, and looking back on my decision, I’m sure I made the right choice. Continue reading
Car feature: Double trouble
I love doing feature shoots. Getting to know people, making friends and finding out what drives them to do what they do. And I’ve got to thank that little black light capturing device for that! However, the thing I love the most about doing features is the story your subject for day has to tell. In this case two subjects! And I think I’ve got a nice story to tell… Continue reading
Car life: Roadtrippin’
I, as you do, like cars. I love to watch races, I love to wrench on cars, I love to photograph them and above all, I love to drive them. Driving a car still feels special to me, even after the hundreds of thousands of kilometres I’ve driven so far. The sheer pleasure of controlling a big powerful machine that stimulates all your senses is still a great feeling. Hearing the engine work, feeling the car through your spine, smelling all the fumes, ‘speaking’ with the car with your hands through the steering wheel. But best of all, it comes in all forms and shapes. Some spirited driving or just cruising around with the windows, or better yet the top down on a beautiful evening? You can do both with just one car. Continue reading
Events: DMPD Finest and more
DMPD, by now a phenomenon, loved by many, liked by more and lived by those who were lucky enough to be present at some or maybe all of these wonderful events. While I’m writing it feels that I’m starting this article with some kind of closure of a chapter but it’s not what it seems though. We have a lot more to come of these sick events. We thought it was a good idea to save up some content for a little later in the year so we can review some of the cool stuff we came across during the DMPD events. Continue reading
Introduction: Out of bad comes good.
Before I explain what that cryptic title is all about, let me tell you something about myself first. My name’s Maurice Bergers, 26 years old and I live in Schiedam, a town right next to Rotterdam in the Netherlands. As many if not all of you here, I have an almost unhealthy fascination with things powered by combustion engines, whether it be on two wheels or four. Continue reading
Raising the bar – An introduction
We like cars. We like people who work on cars. But we love people who build their cars. Who put their own time, blood, sweat and tears into their cars. So there’s a new entry on the blog:
Raising the bar. Raising the bar will be all about builds that we think are, well, raising the bar! Of course there are enough projects out there that are well executed but the cars that will be featured in raising the bar are not your average projects. These cars (and their owners) deserve their own feature in a special kind of way. So what are builds that are raising the bar? Continue reading
Car feature: Pascal’s minty Civic
I’ve met Pascal quite recently. We don’t go far back at all but we have something in common. Not so much the type of cars we drive, or even the brand for that matter. It’s the veneer that both our cars are covered with. Pascal had a colour custom made to match his Civic and he did a great job! Continue reading
Car life: Mick van Randeraat and the Zandvoort circuit
It’s nice to meet loads of people along the road when you’re out there shooting. Some of the people come over and ask you to e-mail the photos to them others compliment you on your work or they come over and say: He you’re that guy from… (wherever they think your from). I must say that definitely last year I experienced more of these situations. I first met Mick van Randeraat earlier this year at one of the promotional meetings for DMPD2013. Continue reading
Car life: A quick visit at Co-OrdSport
Every now and then I’m looking around for cars to shoot and this week I asked Wouter Vallen from Co-OrdSport NL if he had something in mind. I know for a fact that he had some cool cars over at his shop from customers but I had a special request to shoot a GT86 for once. Of course he knows a few people in the scene so he contacted one of his partners at Toyota for me. Continue reading
Spotlight: Warrior Kevin
I don’t recall that our club member Kevin ever had a proper introduction on our blog. Not that he needs an introduction at this time but he still deserves a little attention and exposure just for the reason that he has one hell of a loud RX7 FC and because he’s an awesome guy! I just wanted to share a few shots and tell you people a little bit about Kevin and his Mazda. Continue reading
